5S Emerging Water Professional Conference Attendance Prize
The 5S (Gold Shovelers) Emerging Water Professional Conference Attendance Prize offers a Water New Zealand Young Water Professional recent graduate the opportunity to attend the Water New Zealand Conference & Expo or the Water New Zealand Stormwater Conference. This provides the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and gain greater appreciation of the water environment, water management, water engineering and the water industry at large, thus becoming better informed and motivated to advance their career in the wider water sector.

Poster of the Year Award sponsored by Tonkin + Taylor
Posters are assessed by the Technical Committee on the following criteria;
- Technical content
- Practical content
- Future use
- Clarity and logic
- Standard of the verbal presentation

Paper of the Year Award sponsored by HYNDS
In considering the merits of a paper, the Technical Committee considers:
- Technical content: is the technical content sound, does it have sufficient substance, and does it increase available knowledge?
- Practical content: does it have practical application?
- Future use: can it be used to assist future work?
- Clarity and logic of the written presentation
- Originality: is there something new that is innovative?
Papers submitted for presentation at the conference, that meet the relevant criteria, are automatically considered by the Technical Committee for the Paper of the Year Award sponsored by HYNDS.
Presentation of the Year Award sponsored by HYNDS
In considering the merits of a presentation, the Technical Committee considers:
- Visual aids – clarity, legibility, catches interest.
- Delivery – title, introduction, logical flow.
- Answering questions – confidence, completeness of answers and audience response
- Content & actual content presented
Papers presented at the conference, that meet the relevant criteria, are automatically considered by the Technical Committee for the Presentation of the Year Award sponsored by HYNDS.
Young Author of the Year Award sponsored by TRILITY
The Young Author of the Year Award sponsored by TRILITY has been established to encourage the participation of young authors at the Water New Zealand Conference & Expo. This award is given to the best paper of the year, by an author aged 35 years or younger.
Papers submitted for presentation at the conference, that meet relevant criteria are automatically considered by the Technical Committee for the Young Author of the Year Award. Please ensure when you are submitting your paper you tick the relevant box to be considered for this award. If you have not done so, please contact waternz@avenues.co.nz to notify of your eligibility.
Best Exhibition Stand
Exhibitors are an integral part of the Water New Zealand Conference & Expo, and the award judges are always impressed with the quality and amount of interest generated by exhibition stands at each year’s event.
There are two categories: Best Single Stand and Best multiple Stand.
In judging the award, consideration is given to the layout of the stand, design flair and creativity. The winners are presented at the final morning tea of the conference.
